LETTERS FROM ATHEIST TO PASTOR
Steve is a dear friend of mine. Steve is an atheist. Recently he wrote me a letter that started off with: "Dear Pastor Bruce, There is no deity. There is no God." This has opened up a rich exchange of letters. We decided to process through this in an open format, writing to each other over Facebook and my blog. Who knows where this will all end up. I found your approach to God as fantasy intriguing. You argued against the belief in God, “God is an imagined fantasy”, by creating an argument that it in itself was born from a fantasy.

In response to your first letter, kindly allow me to begin my reply with the final sentence that you wrote and then, in a separate correspondence, I will address your less personal statements. For the record, your last sentence questioned me: “Why do you personally struggle with the concept of God?” In truth Pastor Bruce, I do not struggle with the concept of a god, nor do I struggle with the concept of many gods...
